American Idol – Aftermath

Archived in the category: Entertainment

Where music event is concerned, it is almost impossible to miss out on the yearly American Idol contest. David Cook was crowned the winner of this season American Idol contest, defeating David Archuleta in the final.

And as usual like the past few seasons, there are almost non-stop gossips and rumors during the entire nineteen weeks contest. We heard about the rumor of wildcard tours when some of the more talented idols are being eliminated in the earlier rounds; we heard about the talk of revamping the series due to poor audience ratings; and of course not forgetting the voting system that is being severely criticized.

The aftermath of the contest, we read about David Cook dating former contestant Kimberly Caldwell from the season 2 series; followed by the sad new of Luke Menard, contestant in this season, being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the most recent new, the producers of American Idol reportedly being sued by the American Federation of Musicians for violating a bargaining agreement by underpaying musicians.

So, another eventful season ended.

Looking back at this season contest, some felt that it is the best season ever and of course, there are always people who disagreed with the view. The winner, David Cook, has a good voice and is very talented. He is a seasoned performer and with strong and professional stage performance, should go on and score well with his new album.

As for David Archuleta, the runner up, all is not lost for him. He is young, only 17, yet sings exceptionally well. And with his great potential and strong appeal to young fans, many expect him to be successful in the music industry as well.

For the rest of the contestants that are eliminated earlier, will they be able to make headlines and do well in the extremely competitive music industry? It really depends on their determination, luck and hard work. While there are contestants that managed to crave out a successful career after their American Idol dreams ended, most of the others faded off slowly. So, will we see the last of talented idol, people like Carly Smithson, Asia’h Epperson and Michael Johns?

Nobody knows. Only times can tell.
